What a way to finish out our trip to Tasmania. Fantastic accomodation and as they say in "The Castle" oh the serenity!! We did the dove lake boat shed walk on day 1. Breathtaking. Day 2 we decided to chalenge ourselves and did Marion's lookout. They do say not for young children and believe me there is a reason for that but our 5 yo daughter & 8 yo son climbed it and we are proud of both of them. We have had the nocturnal visitors & if Penelope is not satisfied with the food provided she will sample your toes. I can attest to that! And her teeth hurt. Night 2 we had a small Tasmanian Devil at the base of the steps. What an amazing way to celebrate Australia Day!!! Would love to have used the fire but it did seem a bit of overkill. Thanks for a great stay. Perfect accomodation.

We were so looking foward to coming to Stringybard cottage and when we arrived it exceeded expectations. The fire, such a bonus, as it was cool and showery. We felt very cosy and warm despite it being mid summer. We had a visit from mother and baby possum and a pademelon. This is such a lovely place to stay. Great breakfast, great walks.

Beautiful, secluded and comfortable cabin. Rustic luxury we called it. Three friendly pademelons devoured our apples and snow fell during the night. Our only regret - we'd only booked one night.

One of the best places we have had the pleasure of staying at. Very comfortable, lots of pademelons, currajongs, and overnight snow made it perfect. We walked around Dove Lake with all the wonderful views, and then next day walked from Snake Hill to the information centre; snowing all the way. Brilliant. We will be back.

Absolutely gorgeous place to stay, We saw snow fall for the first time and it was so romantic for our 1 year. (August 10-13th Great time for snow!) breathtaking scenery in Cradle Mountain..Great hospitality and great cheese platter and wine. Great for that special romantic getaway with your loved one with a spa and fire place which warms up the room very quickly! If you visit Cradle Mountain make sure you take a walk around Dove Lake in St Clair National Park - Absolutely magical views.. We Didn't want to leave this beautiful, peaceful place - And I'm sure you won't want to either! If you stay in this cabin you will get a visit from peter the Possum every night wanting some attention and food.. He Loves his grapes. A Fantastic experience all round! We will be back for sure! Thank You kate & Kim for your hospitality.

We spent our 2nd night @Highlanders here in Stringybark and spend last night in the cottage next door. As newlyweds, we enjoyed the peace and tranquility of this wonderfully magical place! What a lovely place to take a breather...by far our favourite Tassie experience. We will be sad to leave and return back to life in the city, but hope to return again one day! The fresh air rejuverates and the walks are so good for the soul! We would highly recommend trekking up to Marion's Lookout and Dove Lake. Loved the woodstove...warmed us up and created such a nice ambience! We will remember this always!!!!

We had an absolutely amazing time at Highlanders. THe cottage was amazingly cosy and warm, the fireplace added that extra touch of being in the wilderness. We saw the resident possums, including Pevelope (who really does love apples). Thank you very much to Kate and Kim for such a wonderful holiday/experience.

What a fantastic place. We've manged to cover many miles but still feel like we've had a holiday. We had sunshine the whole time we were here, but it gets mighty cold. The early morning walks with ice on everything was amazinng. Cradle Mountain was a spectacular area. The cabins were fantqastic as were the cheese platter, breakfast hampers. Everything about this week has been perfect. Thank you.

Found this accommodation while looking for a place to stay other than Lodge at Cradle Mountain. It was a "rustic" in keeping with the environment. But also was a quality place and very comfortable on a rainy, windy and cold night. It was well furnished and the wood heater that had all the making ready for a quick and easy fire with lots of wood. The cabins are quite separate from each other and are very private. The location is central to all the Cradle Moutain National Park offices and the main feature of the lake. Note: You must bring all your food as there are no shops selling non-prepared food at Cradle Mountain. However, the owner/managers of the Highlanders do have an extensive supply of good wine and beer at a good price.
