Self Catering Cabin Accommodation Details & Inclusions
All cottages have fully equipped kitchens, tea and coffee making facilities, private verandahs, TV, clock radio, ensuite bathrooms, bubble bath, electric blankets, hair dryers and pure Tassie mountain water on tap. Eight of the cottages have wood heating and two have gas heating. Portable BBQs can be set up on your deck or verandah and laundry facilities are available.
All the Cradle Mountain Highlanders Cottages include towels and linen and are serviced daily.
Cradle Mountain Meals, Food & Supplies
Complimentary milk, instant coffee, tea bags, sugar and basic seasonings are provided in all cabins.
Breakfast Baskets
Continental breakfast baskets for two containing cereals, toast bread, eggs, gourmet spreads, fruit cups (or yogurt), milk and juice are available for $9.00 per person.
Coffee and Chocolates
Ground coffee can be purchased from Reception. Coffee plungers are supplied in all cabins.
Port and D'Anvers truffles, and dark orange chocolates can also be purchased from Reception.
Wine & Beer
A good selection of Tasmanian and Australian mainland wines and Tasmanian beer can be purchased from Reception.
Cook Your Own
Shopping is very limited in the Cradle Mountain wilderness area. If you wish to cook in your cabin it is recommended that you purchase any groceries or fresh food before you arrive. The last places to shop are Sheffield or Deloraine (coming from Hobart, Launceston or Devonport), Burnie (coming from Wynyard or Stanley) and Rosebery (coming from Strahan or Queenstown).
Dining Out At Cradle Mountain
There are three restaurants and cafes within a 1.5 km radius of Highlanders Cottages. Cradle Mountain Lodge offers formal dining at its Highland Restaurant and has a bistro/tavern which serves counter meals. The Cradle Mountain Chateau (formerly Doherty's Hotel) has a casual buffet and an a la carte restaurant. The Chateau is located about 1 km before you get to Highlanders Cottages and the Lodge is almost the same distance past Highlanders Cottages. You can also walk 200 metres from Cradle Mountain Highlanders Cottages to the café at the Information Centre for lunch. The Wilderness café is open for lunch and dinner in the high season, and until 5.00 pm in winter.

Continental breakfast provisions are available for $9.00 per person.
Infants under 2 years of age are free and children aged 2 to 13 are $20.00 per night. Extra adults and children over 14 are $30.00 per night.

Cabin Accommodation Rates Details
All rates are in Australian Dollars and are inclusive of GST. Rates are subject to change and accommodation type is subject to availability.
Low Season extends from 1st May through to the 30th September.
High Season starts on the 1st October and extends through to the 31st April.
The Christmas holiday period is from 24 December to 15 January. A surcharge of $10.00 per cabin per night is payable during this period.
Minimum Stay Requirements: Additional surcharges may apply to one night bookings during the Christmas holiday period, Easter holidays and on long weekends.

Cabin Accommodation Booking & Confirmation
Booking enquiries can be made by phone, fax or email. You can also complete our online booking enquiry form, or check real time availability and book and pay online. All booking enquiries are subject to availability and confirmation by Cradle Mountain Highlanders.
When you make a booking with Cradle Mountain Highlanders you will be required to secure the booking with a 50% deposit at the time of booking with the balance payable on arrival.
Accommodation Terms and Conditions:
- 50% deposit is required on booking
- Balance payable on arrival
- Deposits can be paid by credit card, cheque, money order or direct deposit
- All cancellation requests must be in writing
- Deposits (less a $25.00 administration fee) will be refunded if 7 days notice of cancellation is given (with the exception of the Christmas holiday period, for which 30 days notice is required)
- Cancellations within 7 days of arrival (or 30 days for Christmas holiday bookings) will forfeit deposit
- Non-arrivals will forfeit deposit and any remaining nights may be re-sold
How to pay your deposit:
Deposits can be paid by credit card, cheque, money order or direct deposit.
If paying by credit card, you can telephone us with the number or fax or email it to us, or you can book and pay via our secure on-line reservations system.
Cheques and money orders should be made out to Cradle Mountain Highlanders and posted to PO Box 220 Sheffield TAS 7306. For direct deposits, please contact us for bank account details.
Once your deposit has been received we will send you written confirmation of your booking.
